Acceptable Use Policy

In addition to the Master Service Agreement, this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) governs the use of Biztation LLP’s Hostloom services. Violation of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your service. In the event of a dispute between you and Hostloom regarding the interpretation of this AUP, Hostloom’s interpretation, in its reasonable commercial judgment, shall govern. Resource usage

Hostloom customers may not initiate the following practices, and Hostloom reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts found in violation with or without prior notice:

  • Use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds in any consecutive 6-hour period.
  • Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes (e.g., daemons such as IRCD).
  • Run web spiders or indexers on shared hosting servers.
  • Run software interfacing with IRC networks.
  • Participate in file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities or run bit torrent applications.
  • Run gaming servers or cron jobs with intervals less than 15 minutes.
  • Run MySQL queries exceeding 15 seconds without proper indexing.
  • Use HTTPS unnecessarily, as encryption is CPU-intensive.

Network abuse

Any forms of network abuse, including but not limited to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, phishing, and SYN floods, are strictly prohibited. Customers may not engage in:

  • Unauthorized access to systems or networks.
  • Monitoring data or traffic without authorization.
  • Interfering with service to users, hosts, or networks.
  • Using internet accounts without owner authorization.
  • Forging TCP-IP packet headers or any other conduct leading to retaliation against Hostloom’s network.

Prohibited uses

Threatening material or content

You may not host, post, transmit, or retransmit any content that harasses or threatens others, including obscene, hateful, or malicious content.

Infringement of intellectual property rights

Use of services to infringe on intellectual property rights is strictly prohibited. Infringing accounts will be suspended or terminated without notice.

Backup/storage device

Shared hosting accounts may not be used as a backup/storage device.

Unacceptable materials

Examples of unacceptable materials on our servers include but are not limited to:

  • IRC Scripts/Bots
  • Proxy Scripts/Anonymizers
  • Image Hosting Scripts
  • File Dump/Mirror Scripts
  • Hacker-related programs/sites
  • Sites promoting illegal activities

Security

Customers must maintain the security of their accounts by:

  • Protecting passwords and updating scripts like WordPress.
  • Reporting suspicious account activity.
  • Implementing local security precautions such as antivirus software.

Bulk commercial email

Bulk emailing is prohibited on shared hosting. Dedicated servers may allow bulk emails with prior approval, under strict compliance with opt-in requirements and the CAN-SPAM Act.

Unsolicited email (spam)

The sending of unsolicited emails (spam) is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in account suspension or termination without notice.

Abuse tickets

Hostloom reserves the right to contact customers regarding AUP violations and may suspend or terminate accounts without prior notice if necessary.

Disclosure to law enforcement

Hostloom may disclose customer information to law enforcement upon receiving a valid legal request, such as a subpoena, and will notify the customer where permitted.

Materials and products

Hostloom exercises no control over the content hosted on customer websites but reserves the right to act on issues that violate this AUP.

Undertaking of the customer

Customers agree to:

  • Avoid causing harm to Hostloom’s equipment or resources.
  • Prevent Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
  • Conduct themselves courteously towards Hostloom employees.
  • Follow security protocols to protect Hostloom’s systems.

CPU usage policy

Shared and reseller servers have a CPU usage limit of 15%, which should not be exceeded for more than 90 seconds at a time.

Email usage policy

Email sending limits are set at 100 outgoing emails per hour per domain. Exceeding these limits may result in errors, and customers are encouraged to wait an hour before resuming email sending.

Violations

Hostloom reserves the right to modify or disable accounts that violate this AUP, with or without notice, and may charge a cleanup fee or other costs incurred due to violations.
